Though Bingley liked her daughter Jane, Bingley’s family did not like them to get married and Bingley’s sister wrote a private letter to Jane, saying deliberately that Bingley had fallen in love with other girls. Jane was extremely grieved at this. What’s worse, Elizabeth had misunderstood Mr. Darcy very much, and she refused his love. Fortunately, with Elizabeth’s aunt’s help and Elizabeth’s true emotion, all the misunderstandings had clarified. Bingley courted Jane and Elizabeth accepted Darcy’s love. They all led a happy life.
Thoughts and feelings:
When I first read this book, I was only 10 years old. I read it as a normal story. I didn’t know what the meaning of the book’s name and I just knew they all had a happy ending. So when I read it 10 years latter, I felt a little funny about myself. And now, I have known the real meaning of this book.
The first sentence in this book is very impressive. It read “It is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a large fortune must be in need of a wife”. The undertone is very clear: The foundation of marriage at that time is not emotion but possession. Although this book tells a love story, I have found that the marriage in this book is not the result of love, but the result of economic need. After reading this book, I know one truth: a poor woman must be in need of a husband, particularly a very rich man, such as Elizabeth’s friend Charlotte.
I hate Mrs. Bennet very much; I can’t forget how eager she wanted to marry off her daughters. If she thought the man was rich enough, she asked her daughters to marry him without thinking, just because money. Fortunately, Elizabeth and her father are wise enough. Elizabeth could refuse her mother’s absurd require, and think everything herself. Though she misunderstood Mr. Darcy, she still showed her admire bravely and gained happiness at last.
Money can not determine everything, and true love is pure.
