What I Will Do After Graduating

Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm 10 years old. I'm in the 5th grade this year and that means I'll be graduating from elementary school at the end of the year. Graduating and moving on to middle school is a really big deal! All my teachers have been telling me how growing up means more responsibilities and challenges. But I'm ready for it.

After I graduate from elementary school, I have a lot of big plans for what I want to do next. First of all, I'm really excited to start taking different classes in middle school. In elementary school, we pretty much just had math, reading, science and a couple other basics. But in middle school, I'll get to choose some electives too!

I already know that I definitely want to take art class. I love drawing, painting, sculpting with clay - anything artistic really. My dream is to become a famous artist one day and have my paintings displayed in museums and art galleries. I think taking art classes will really help me get better at drawing and painting. Who knows, maybe I'll discover I'm a master sculptor too!

Another elective I can't wait for is woodshop. I've always enjoyed building things with my hands using tools like hammers, screwdrivers, and saws. Woodshop class will teach me all about different carpentry skills so I can design and create awesome wooden projects. I'm picturing myself making a handcrafted wooden bench or maybe even trying to build a treehouse one day! How cool would that be?

Of course, I'll have to keep working hard in my core classes like math too. Numbers and algebra kind of make my brain hurt now, but I know it's important to learn it all for later on. Maybe I'll discover a passion for mathematics as well! You never know. I definitely don't want to struggle when geometry and more advanced math classes come around.

Outside of class, I'm really excited about the new

after-school activities I can join too. My elementary school didn't have too many clubs besides Student Council. But I've heard the middle school has a Robotics Club where you can build and program little robots to do tasks. I think joining that would be amazing! I love technology and coding, so why not combine it with my interest in building stuff by making robots? How awesome is that??

There's also a Drama Club at the middle school that could be super fun. I'm a pretty theatrical kid - just ask my parents about the performances I put on at home! Getting to rehearse and perform in plays in front of an audience sounds like a dream. And who knows, keeping up with drama could maybe lead to me becoming a famous movie star one day. An actor needs to start somewhere right?

Probably my biggest priority after graduating elementary school though is to join as many sports teams as I can. Right now I mostly just play recreational soccer, but I live and breathe sports so I'm dying to get onto the school teams. Soccer is still my #1 love, but I'd love to try out for basketball, track and field, you name it! Playing sports is magical - it keeps me active, teaches me teamwork, and honestly just makes me happy. Becoming a professional athlete is my biggest dream. Of course, that means I'll have to stay on top of my schoolwork too. My parents are always reminding me that academics need to come first before any extracurriculars. I know I'll have to be super organized with my time once I'm juggling multiple sports teams, clubs, and harder classes. No more slacking off or procrastinating on homework! But I'm up for the challenge.

When I'm not doing any of those activities, I hope I can also find time for some fun new hobbies. I've always wanted to learn to play the guitar for example. Or maybe get into photography and start a channel. Speaking of YouTube, I could even start a gaming channel where I stream myself playing video games. That's pretty much every kid's dream hobby right? Oh and I can't forget about finding my first job too! Most kids my age wouldn't be thinking about that yet. But I've always been a hard worker with an entrepreneurial spirit. I'm already planning on starting my own little business over the summer - maybe a lemonade stand or doing yard work for neighbors. Handling money, marketing, and customer service will be awesome experience for later on.

Basically, I have no plans on slowing down or taking it easy after 5th grade graduation. Childhood is all about constantly exploring new interests and opportunities. Middle school is going to open so many new doors for me to dive into different subjects, activities, and experiences that I can't even imagine yet. I'll get my first real taste of independence and responsibility too. At the same time though, I don't want to grow up too fast. Mom and Dad are always telling me to hold onto my imagination, creativity, and spirit of adventure. So you can be sure that no

matter what new path I go down, whether it's joining the robotics team, scoring the winning goal, or just cloud watching in the park, my inner child is going to tag along. Appreciating the little things in life is something I never want to lose.

Staying curious, working hard, and having fun - that's what I'm all about. With that mindset, I know I'll be ready to soak up every opportunity that middle school has in store for me after I graduate. The world is my oyster and I can't wait to dive right in! Just call me Jamie, future

President/astronaut/rockstar/veterinarian/ninja (or all of the above)!
