My Hero, Yuan Longping
Hi friends! Today I want to tell you about the person I admire the most - Mr. Yuan Longping. He's an amazing scientist who helped feed millions of people around the world. Let me tell you all about him!

Yuan Longping was born in 1930 in a small village in Hunan Province, China. When he was young, his family was really poor and they didn't have enough food to eat sometimes. This made
Yuan Longping determined to find a way to increase food production when he grew up.
After finishing school, Yuan Longping studied agriculture in university. While he was a student, a terrible thing happened called the Great Famine where millions of people in China starved from lack of food. Yuan Longping was so sad to see people suffering like this. He decided right then that he would dedicate his life to helping boost food supplies.
When Yuan Longping graduated, he started researching ways to get plants to produce more food. He was really interested in something called \"hybridization\" where you cross two different parent plants to create an offspring plant with the best traits of both parents. Kind of like how kids get genes from their mom and dad!
For over 10 long years, Yuan Longping experimented with thousands of different rice breeds, carefully crossbreeding them through hybridization. He worked day and night, not taking any vacations.
