英文:
During the Dragon Boat Festival, people in China eat zongzi, race dragon boats, and hang mugwort and calamus leaves on their doors. It is a traditional festival that has been celebrated for over 2,000 years. The festival is held on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, which usually falls in June.
As a foreigner living in China, I have had the opportunity to experience the Dragon Boat Festival firsthand. One of my favorite parts of the festival is eating zongzi. These pyramid-shaped glutinous rice
dumplings are filled with a variety of ingredients, such as pork, beans, and mushrooms. They are wrapped in bamboo leaves and then boiled or steamed. They are delicious and remind me of the tamales that I used to eat in my home country.
Another fun activity during the Dragon Boat Festival is watching the dragon boat races. These races are held on rivers and lakes throughout China. The boats are long and narrow, and are decorated with colorful dragon heads and tails. The paddlers sit in rows and paddle to the beat of a drum. It is a thrilling sight to see the boats racing down the water.
In addition to zongzi and dragon boat races, people also hang mugwort and calamus leaves on their doors during the Dragon Boat Festival. These leaves are believed to ward off evil spirits and diseases. It is interesting to see how many traditional beliefs and customs are still practiced in China today.
