摘要：Rotatable assembly of dynamoelectric machine is provided with at least onespacer that is collapsed from an initial length, in its free form, to a preselected length inits final configuration, to provide means for controlling end play of the assembly and forestablishing a desired alignment of the assembly with the stationary structure of themachine. Collapsing the spacer reduces an internal diameter of the spacer and rigidlysecures the spacer to a shaft portion of the assembly. Axial length of a thrust member isreduced to a preselected length relative to a reference portion of a rotatable assemblyand the length of a second thrust member may also be reduced to establish a
preselected distance between two thrust surfaces. Disclosed apparatus includes a pair ofopposed rams having spacer collapsing tooling that includes anvil means for collapsingthe spacers and abutment means for engaging other portions of a rotatable assembly. Alost motion mechanism interconnects one of the anvil means and one of the abutmentmeans.
